Due to the current situation of the European textile sector, Techtextil and Avantex will be twice as influential
|
Techtextil, the international theme tradeshow for technical and non-woven fabrics, and Avantex, the international forum featuring the latest fabric innovations for clothes makers, will be held from June 12th to 14th in Frankfurt.
Techtextil is held every two years, as the major world event in its category for the number of international visitors and exhibitors. Figures are eloquent, for in 2005 participation rate reached 65% of the total. Among participating countries, Spain was in the sixth place – with forty two companies. Italy, France, Belgium, Great Britain and Switzerland were the countries leading the list of exhibitors. Twenty three of the Spanish companies were members of the Textile International Council. As to products, “Smart Fabrics” revealed growth rates of about 22%.
Techtextil is the forum where a number of related product segments will be showcased, among them: Research, development, planning, consultation; Technology, machinery, accessories; Fibres, yarns; Woven fabrics, laid webs, braidings, knitted fabrics; Nonwovens; Coated textiles; Composites; Bondtec (Surface and Bonding techniques, adhesives and modeling, plasma treatment and robotics technology).
The various sectors will be identified by means of icons on signage, in accordance to application fields and specialties: Agrotech, industrial fabrics applied to agriculture, horticulture and landscaping; Builtech, the latest innovations in industrial fabrics for land, hydraulic, light or heavy construction work; Clothtech, innovations in industrial fabrics for the clothes and footwear making sectors; Geotech, new products and industrial fabric concepts for civil engineering constructions; Hometech, the latest for making furniture, rugs and carpets; Indutech, industrial fabrics for making machinery, and for the chemical and electronics industry sectors; Medtech, industrial fabrics applied to medical products; Mobiltech, industrial fabrics for making airplanes, ships, trains and cars; Oekotech, new ideas applicable to the protection of the environment and for recycling purposes; Packtech, industrial fabrics for packaging and transportation of all types of products; Protech, application of industrial fabrics for the protection of persons and objects; Sporttech, applications for products and ideas for leisure and sports.
Coinciding with this tradeshow, the Techtextil Symposium and Innovation Awards will be also major events. Of special interest to our readers is Avantex, focusing on the latest novelties for the clothes-making sector. All stages and aspects for every group of products will be presented: materials, research, development, consulting, textile technology, fibres and weaving, textiles and membranes and hi-tech apparel and the improvement and perfecting of fabrics. As usual, the tradeshow will include a number of conferences by international experts.
Techtextil is valuable, without a doubt, as a tool providing support and the opportunity of exchanging information on evolution and the latest developments, thus strengthening cooperation involving science, industry and users.
Both Techtextil and Avantex have ambitious goals as to growth and projection, and also a good chance of attaining them. Traditional fabrics is a sector suffering the impact of Chinese mass production, with low-cost products and quality and design raising standards to the extent of being comparable to European products in many cases. But in the sector of technical fabrics, competition is based on innovation even though this means major efforts in investment and research.
